Survey Question Bank

Cognitive testing document library

Cognitive testing is a technique that is increasingly used to refine and improve survey questions by examining how respondents react to questions and what they understand by particular words/phrases and formats/layouts. The aim of the technique is to deliver questions that are unambiguous and which will provide responses which are accurate and valid.

The SQB is putting together a library of cognitive testing documents from a range of fieldwork agencies that can be accessed via our questionnaire search.

At present, we hold documents kindly supplied by the Office for National Statistics and the National Centre for Social Research.
